Sustainable Cities and Communities

Inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities

Goal 11 META University implements SDG 11 through an institutionally structured model of engagement with urban and regional ecosystems, acting as a hub for knowledge transfer, human capital development, and sustainable solutions. The university actively collaborates with local government bodies (akimats) and public institutions, participating in educational, social, and infrastructure initiatives aimed at improving urban quality of life. Regular activities include community clean-ups, urban improvement, and greening projects, with student engagement in social and ESG initiatives exceeding 60%, fostering civic responsibility and a culture of sustainability.

The university campus operates as a Living Lab model, where solutions for sustainable cities are tested and implemented, including environmental monitoring, development of green spaces, resource-saving technologies, and digital management tools. Collaboration with industry and government partners enables the practical implementation and scaling of successful solutions at the city and regional levels. META University thus creates an integrated platform for sustainable development, delivering measurable impact on urban communities and aligning fully with QS Sustainability Ranking requirements.

SLTS is a student club at META University that organizes engaging tours and travel experiences for students. The club aims to broaden participants’ horizons, create memorable experiences, and foster a strong sense of community through shared journeys. In addition to travel planning, SLTS is actively engaged with sustainability. The club promotes responsible tourism practices, encourages eco-friendly behavior during trips, and raises awareness about environmental protection. SLTS organizes a variety of activities, including cultural and educational trips across the region eco-tours and nature-based excursions volunteering initiatives (such as clean-up campaigns and community support activities) sustainability awareness events and workshops The club is responsible for developing travel routes, organizing excursions, managing logistics, and ensuring the safety of participants.

Participation in SLTS allows students to explore new places, experience different cultures, and develop valuable skills such as teamwork, planning, leadership, and responsibility.
